Machine Description

New in 2022, the KTC 1250 is a heavy duty tie handling crane for moving and manipulating wood and concrete ties/sleepers. With a maximum reach of 24 ft from the track centerline, the KTC1250 can lift up to 1,500 lb out to 20 ft, and 1,200 lb out to 24 ft. The all welded, reinforced construction of the upper deck and mainframe withstands loading, and provides long life to the equipment. Its powerful arm rotates 360 degrees and can be outfitted with a tie or basket grapple. The minimal tail swing reduces the possibility of fouling the adjacent track, improving the efficiency of the tie gang.

This machine is also available with attachments and options for use on bridges.

Upper and Lower Decks

Structurally optimized decks are made from high-strength low-alloy steel (40% stronger than traditional structural steel). Pedestal mounts in both decks maximize slew bearing support. 3-point (upper) and 4-point (lower) lifting standard.

Boom

All-new, purpose-designed, curved boom reduces weight and stress concentrations while improving strength and work area visibility. Precision induction-hardened pins and case-hardened solid bushings maximize joint life; extra thick bosses improve resilience. Innovative geometry allows one cylinder size to power both the root and dipper booms.

Cab

New ergonomic console layout with increased headroom and seated clearance. Precise openings with gaskets and seals maximize cab pressurization. Rearview camera with dedicated color display and rear wiper standard.

Hydraulic System

Danfoss load-sensing Series 45 pump (dedicated to boom and deck swing) reduces fuel consumption and heat generation. Dedicated polishing pump. Oil cooler with dual brushless fans maintains optimum operating temperature. Danfoss PVG32 pre-compensated valvebank with CAN operators for smooth operation. Manifold assembly reduces auxiliary valve plumbing. Pressure filter standard.

Engine Assembly

Cummins QSF3.8, 121 hp, Stage V, 24 Volt
