The KBR900 is the result of some of the finest minds in the business taking the best features of the ballast regulators in the field today and refining them. Then they looked for the little things that were missing that would make life easier for the operator and maintenance people. The result: a machine that not only does the best job; but is safer, simpler and much more durable. The heavy emphasis is on ergonomics (operator efficiency, health and safety) and ease of maintenance. It is designed to reduce wear and daily routine maintenance functions through the use of high-strength alloys and composite materials at bearing points all put together with a common-sense approach to form and function. A great deal of thought went into the design of the KBR900 to ensure interchangeability of "left" and "right" parts, thereby minimizing spare parts inventory. And, since we have been repairing and maintaining railroad equipment for years on a contract basis, special care was given to enable easy access to every component. The design to build the ballast regulator usually comes down to this: does the performance, maintenance cost, and safety/health exposure reduce your present track maintenance expenditures -- and thereby add profit to your company? The Knox Kershaw KBR900 Ballast Regulator gives you an advantage in all of these aspects. It's performance is second to none. It was built by maintenance professionals to make upkeep as simple and inexpensive as possible. And it respects the safety and health of your employees. It's biggest advantage: what it does for your bottom line.
Plow: The 4-bar parallel link mechanism eliminates an expensive skid and helps isolate shock and vibration. Click on thumbnail to enlarge.
Wings: The biggest in the business, our fully hydraulic wings (1.6 cubic yards/1.22 cubic meters) are designed for free flow of ballast. They are specially constructed to reduce wear and potential damage. The right and left sides are interchangeable. Click on thumbnail to enlarge.
Broom: Dual drive broom with reinforced solid rubber elements quickly diredcts ballast off the track and to the shoulder. The operator has on-the-fly control with hydraulically adjusted deflectors that can be raised for sweeping through a switch, or broom reel maintenance. Click on thumbnail to enlarge.
Cab: Designed for the safety and comfort of the operator, our highly-filtered and pressurized cabs feature sound insulation, temperature control and are rubber mounted to reduce shock and vibration. The tilting feature allows mechanics access to major assemblies from above without having to crawl or lie underneath the equipment.
