The KBR-850 Ballast Regulator offers many of the same state-of-the-art features as the KBR-900 Ballast Regulator and can easily be be incorporated into your track maintenance budget.  The KBR 850's shorter length makes it the machine of choice for the contractors who need a machine that is easily transportable.

The KBR-850 is designed with well laid out controls and increased visibility. The air conditioned cab is highly functional as well as comfortable for the operator. The ballast wings are a full 36 inches (914 mm) wide with a capacity of 1.5 cubic yard (1.15 cu. m.) The wing reach is 13 feet, 6 inches (4115 mm) from the center line of the track. Articulated template doors are optional on the KBR-850.

The KBR 875 Ballast Regulator resulted from a goal to manufacture a machine that meets or exceeds Class I railroad specifications, but equally important, exceeds the specifications of our competitor's machines.  We have stretched the wheelbase by three feet, to the same length as the KBR-900.  This will allow more room for a larger cab and improved accessibility of all components.  An A-frame structure is not required to support our wing, increasing the wheelbase, and allowing us to install either the four-speed manual drop box or six-speed "shift on the go" transmission in such a manner so that it can be easily removed in the field.

Plow:

The hydraulically controlled one pass transfer plow allows operation in any direction.  The plow's blades are constructed out of 1" (25mm) thick T-1 steel with 3/4" (19mm) grader blades.

Wing:

With 1.0 cubic yard (.76 cubic meters) capacity, the T-1 steel constructed wings are 36" (914mm) wide and designed for free flow of ballast.  Articulated template doors are optional and designed for excellent control while dressing the shoulder.  Wing reach is 13'-0" (3962 mm) from the centerline of the track.

Broom:

The standard broom has a sweep width of 110" (2794 mm) and is driven by a single motor chain.  The patented 45-degree, V-shaped deflector allows for quick transfer of excess ballast to the track shoulder.  The deflector assembly is hydraulically raised and lowered.
